Thomas Ray Murphy, 71, of South Shore, KY., went to be his lord and savior and family members on October 27th. He was born in Beaver, KY., August 5, 1947.
Tom was fortunate to have lived and grown up with two families. Tom was the youngest of 10 children and lost both his biological parents when he was just weeks old. He was preceded in death by both his biological parents – Elliott and Grace Murphy – as well as the loving parents who raised him – Clyde and Alice Crisp.
Tom was also preceded in death by 4 biological brothers – Clifford Murphy, James Murphy, Billy Murphy, and Johnny Murphy – and 3 biological sisters – Mary Lou, Enda Mae, and Marjorie Lee.
Tom was also preceded in death by a brother from his family who raised him – Don Crisp.
Tom is a retired supervisor from North American Refractories and a retired security guard from Graf Brothers Flooring.
He is a member of Allen Chapel Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years Betty Williams Murphy and his only daughter Melissa (Barry) Brown of South Shore, KY. Two granddaughters: Emily (Jason)VanBibber of Greenup, KY., and Becca Brown of South Shore, KY., and one great-grandson whom he adored Carter Reed VanBibber also of Greenup.
Also surviving are his brother Bob (Kay) Crisp of South Shore, KY., and sisters Claudia Ann (Jimmie)Hardwick of Morehead, KY., Shannon (Paul) Hunt of Greenup KY., Phyllis Lybrook of South Shore, KY., Nesba Keibler of Portsmouth OH., Nell Lewis of London, OH., and a host of nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 P.M. Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Minister Harold Dupuy officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home Friday from 12 P.M. until the funeral hour.
