Thomas Alvin Long

Thomas Alvin Long, known to everyone as “Tom”, 80, of Knoxville, TN, passed away December 2, 2019 at NHC Nursing and rehabilitation Center. Tom was born on June 25, 1939, in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Holbrook and Nancy Long.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darwina Parsons Long, his wife, Jennie Williams Long; one son, Jeffrey Long; his sister, Beulah Faye Edgington and his brother, Roy Leo Long.

Tom is survived by five children: Lois (Jack) Curry, of Knoxville, TN; Regina (Troy) Reitz, of Miramar, FL; Pam (Darren) Bryant, of Grayson, KY; Oscar Long of Dandridge, TN; and David Long of Olive Hill, KY; two step-daughters: Thelma (Billy) Noe of Reidsville, GA and Mae Williams of Carrollton, KY. Tom is also survived by nine grandchildren: Nancy Moore, Jennifer Reitz, Jessica Reitz, Julie Reitz, Thomas Curry, Justin Curry, Brandon Bryant, Mark Bryant, and Brittany Long; and four step-grandchildren, as well as thirteen great grandchildren.

Tom retired from Irby Construction Company. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as Hunting and Fishing. When he was able-bodied, he would walk for miles. Tom was loved and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky with Brother Grant Sammons, officiating. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, South Shore, Kentucky. Friends may call at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time at 1 p.m.
