Gilbert Lawson, 81, of Portsmouth, OH., went to be with his lord Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., December 23, 1936 a son of the late Charles Lawson and Mazie Fields Lawson.
Gib was a member of Christ Community Church in Portsmouth, OH., he served our country in the United States Army, loved the Cleveland Browns and was an all-around community minded person. He worked at Empire Steel for 20 years, owned and operated Heritage Square Assisted Living for 30 plus years.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter Alyson Rae Lawson and one brother Chuck Lawson.
Left behind to cherish his memory are one daughter Mazie Elizabeth Lawson of Lexington, KY., the mother of his daughters Melissa Lynn Lawson of Portsmouth, OH., one sister in law Elizabeth Mounts of Portsmouth, OH., three sisters Sally “Ray” Vanhorn of Raceland, KY., Irene Ledingham of Portsmouth, OH., Margaret “Bob” Mackey of Columbus, OH., and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Scott Rawlings officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, OH. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home Friday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
