Tribute

Everett Bennett Cleary, Jr. gained his angel wings on April 22, 2021. The son of the late Everett

Bennett Cleary, Sr. and Avaline Reeder Cleary; he was born on September 7, 1927, in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. He graduated from McKell High School in 1945, and married his sweetheart, Betty Jane Moore, on May 1, 1945. They were married for 72 years. 

He served in the Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from November 1945-May 1947. He retired as

Shipping Supervisor on September 1, 1987, from North American Refractories in South Shore,

Kentucky, having been employed there for 40 years. He helped organize the Tayco Employee Federal Credit Union in the early 1950's and served as Manager/Treasurer for over 35 years. Although he didn't have any sons, Junie (as he was known to many), was active in all sports in South Shore ranging from Little League to the athletics at McKell High School. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan; following both Wildcat football and basketball for over 70 years.

Survivors whom he loved beyond measure include daughters, Angela Biggs (Philip) of Lexington,

Kentucky; Lala Brumfield (Stewart) of Frankfort, Kentucky; and Amber Fannin (David) of Great Mills, Maryland; granddaughters, Cindy Crissman (John), and Melanie Biggs (Hannah Ingle), grandsons, Matthew Brumfield and Kyle Fannin, great grandsons, Isaac Smith, Eric Smith, and Ryder Fannin, and  great granddaughters, Sarah Crissman and Lauren Smith, bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother in law, Don Brown, nieces, nephews, and many others who loved him as their family and considered him their adopted loved one.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters, JoAn Brown and Norma Newman, brother, Charles Cleary, and the love of his life, Betty Jane Moore Cleary, who passed on April 21, 2018.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. He leaves a legacy of love, commitment, and generosity that his loved ones shall continue. Private interment was held on April 26, 2021 at Mt. Zion Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on May 22, 2021, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky. Friends may call from 11:00am until the service at 1:00pm.
