W. Ray Spears, 86 of Greenup, Kentucky passed away, Feb. 9, 2022 in SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Greenup County, Kentucky, Aug. 12, 1935, a son of the late Braxton Spears and Lula Payton Spears.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Miller Spears, brothers, Ralph, David and Ernest Spears, sisters, Betty Meadows and Lucy Smith, grandson, Jack Spears.

Surviving are his wife, Hermie Howard Spears, children, Winford Ray Spears Jr. of South Shore, Freda Mangrum of Seattle, Washington, Rebecca Adkins of Greenup, Donnie Spears of South Shore and Connie Coffee of Greenup, brother, Braxton Spears Jr. of Greenup, sisters, Delie Clark of South Shore, Leota Conley of South Shore, Annabelle Barber of Huntington, WV, grandchildren, Jackie Hamilton, Jessie Nelson, Jamie Younge, Brian Catlett, Stephanie Catlett, Jeffrey Catlett, Patrick Lee, Katie Lee and Annamarie Coffee, great-grandchildren, Jaxon Ray, Addi Younge, Caden Hamilton, Camden Hamilton, Raylee Nelson and Huntlee Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore with Ralph Edward Spears, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Spears Cemetery, Greenup, Kentucky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. till the service hour at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
