Obituary

Theodore "Ted" James Jr 72, of South Shore, KY., passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH. Ted was born in Maloneton, KY on April 30, 1943 to the late Theodore and Emabele James. Ted leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years Connie James two sons Jeff (Melissa) James of South Shore, KY and their children Garrett, Zack, and Michaela; Greg (Beth) James of Columbus, OH., and their daughter Sarah, two step sons Robb Pace of Columbus, OH., John Pace of Wheeling, WV., and is son's Ethan, Christopher and young grandson Christopher Jr., two brothers Jim (Suzanne) James of South Shore, KY., and Joe Greenslate of South Shore, KY., and one sister in law Mary Ann Howell. Besides his parents Ted is preceded in death by his older brother Don James and sister in law Annalee Greenslate. Ted graduated from Mckell High School in 1961. Upon graduation he served in the US Air Force as a Jet Mechanic for 4 ½ years. After leaving the Air Force Ted worked at HWI International as a Supervisor in South Shore, KY., until retirement. Ted served as an elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Portsmouth OH. He was a devout Christian and had a firm belief in God that supported him in his struggles with health and ultimately gave him peace. He was devoted to his family, church, friends, community, and Country. His devotion carried over to all who knew him as many looked to him as a father, grandfather, and uncle figure. Ted's ability to light up a room with his contagious humor and sweet loving spirit will be missed by all. Some will remember Ted as a master negotiator when dealing with chickens, antiques, pigeons, dogs and any other creatures that he found interesting. Ted enjoyed flea markets and antique markets searching for the perfect treasure. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. Funeral Services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Portsmouth Seventh Day Adventist Church , 27th & Grandview in Portsmouth, OH., with Pastor Ron Anderson and Pastor Ken Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, KY. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5 P.M. till 8 P.M. and one hour before the Funeral Service at the Church.
