Robert Bruce Piatt, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away with loving family by his side Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his residence in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, December 21, 1949, to the late Bruce Piatt Jr. and Mary Agnes (hunt) Piatt. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a son Matthew Blankenship, two sisters Brenda Croft and Jo Anna Otworth. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years Louanne Mercer Piatt; son Nathan Piatt (Shandi Smith) of Nashville, TN., two daughters Liz Piatt of Portsmouth and Wendy Marie Stauffer of Atlanta, GA., two brothers David Piatt of South Shore, KY., and Kevin (Frankie) Piatt of West Portsmouth, OH., many nieces and nephews and the light of his life, grandson Brayden Piatt. Bob graduated from Minford High School and went directly to work at Detroit Steel in New Boston. Upon the closing of the mill, he worked most of the trades in construction throughout the years, with heavy equipment operator being his niche. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. If he was in the woods or on the water, he was a happy man. His last fishing trip was as recent as May when he and Nathan fished at their favorite spot, Lake St. Clair in Michigan. He looked forward to his Wednesday morning gatherings at Shoemaker's with his old buddies from Minford, where he said, "they solved the world's problems". A Memorial Service will held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Roberson Funeral home in South Shore, KY., from 5 P.M until 7 P.M.
