Mary Slome Horsley, 98, of McDermott, Ohio, passed away April 16, 2015 in Heartland of Portsmouth Nursing and Rehab in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Simon Pete Lawhun and Lucy Rister Lawhun, a member of McDermott Freewill Baptist Church in McDermott, Ohio. Surviving are two daughters, Avanelle "Jim" Vance of McDermott, Ohio, Fonda Bowling of New Boston, Ohio, one son, David "Rhonda" Horsley of McDermott, Ohio, eighteen grandchildren and forty five great grandchildren and twenty one Great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, John Horsley, Oct 30, 1991, two sons, Gary and Merlin Horsley, eleven brothers, Steven, Forest, Harlan, Willie, Joe, Samuel, Fred, Sherl, Alfred, Willie and Isaac, five sisters, Anna, Lucy, Alma, Goldie and Daisy. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Henley Deemer Road with Rev. Keith Monroe, officiating. Burial will follow in Lute Cemetery, McDermott, Ohio. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky from 6 P.M. till 8 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 and from 1 P.M. till the Funeral hour at 2 P.M. at the Church.
