Obituary

Lowell Glenn Eldridge, 82, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Ruggles, Kentucky, on March 28, 1944, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Scott Eldridge.

Glenn lived a full and curious life, shaped by his love of travel, craftsmanship, and the simple beauty of the world around him. As a young man drafted into the United States Army, he had the opportunity to see parts of the world that many only dream of. Of all the places he visited, Paris, France, remained the most beautiful in his memory.

His lifelong passion for cars led him to upholstery, where he applied his skill and attention to detail to both automobiles and boats. He retired from Portsmouth Auto Upholstery, leaving behind many years of dedicated work and craftsmanship.

Glenn had a love for adventure and the outdoors. He was a licensed pilot who found joy from flying and an avid fisherman who enjoyed many peaceful days camping in Oak Harbor—a place he returned to year after year. In his younger days, he was a proud member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge No. 48 in Portsmouth, Ohio, and also belonged to the El Hasa Shriners. He was often seen participating in parades, riding a minibike, and bringing smiles to those around him.

At home, Glenn found happiness in the quieter moments of life. He took pride in growing tomatoes, a hobby that became especially meaningful to him later in life. Whether in the countryside or the city, he looked out of every window, finding joy in watching nature wherever he was.

He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, skilled hands, and appreciation for the beauty in everyday life.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers—Dallas, Homer, and Morris—and two sisters, Bonnie and Katherine.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Simpson Eldridge; two sons, Lowell Glenn (Lorie) Eldridge Jr. of Brookville, Ohio, and Jeff (Barbie) Eldridge of South Webster, Ohio; and daughter, Tina (Jeff) Daugherty of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio, and the Veterans Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1 P.M. at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, with Mitchell Eldridge officiating. Burial will take place afterward at Lewis County Memory Gardens in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 12 P.M. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.
