Lonnie Estill Adkins, 77, of South Shore, Kentucky went to be with his Lord, Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 in Wurtland Manor Nursing Home in Wurtland, Kentucky. He was born Sept. 6, 1936 in Fullerton, Kentucky, a son of the late Lonnie Estill Adkins Sr. and Martha Bentley Adkins.
He was a member of the Church Of God, South Shore, Ky, retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a operator, a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a former mayor of South Shore, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nidreith J. Keibler Adkins, Jan. 12, 1998, one brother, Sam Adkins and one sister, Angie Adkins.
Surviving is one son, Rickey "Sue" Adkins of South Shore, Kentucky, six brothers, Frank Adkins of West Jefferson, Ohio, Ray Adkins of West Virginia, Joe Adkins of Columbus, Ohio, Charles Adkins of Greenup, Kentucky, Paul Adkins of Covington, Louisiana and Bill Adkins of Florida, two sisters, Betty Adkins of West Jefferson, Ohio, Sarah Cunningham of Portsmouth, Ohio, two grandchildren, Summer Claxon and Rickey Adams Adkins, one great grandson, Maverick Michael Claxon.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky with Rev. Bob Sweeney, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, South Shore, Kentucky. Friends may call from 11 A.M. till the Funeral hour at 2 P.M. on Wednesday.
