John Elder Shockley,83, of West Portsmouth, OH., went to be with his Lord September 9, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1930 to the late John E. Shockley and Virginia Welch Shockley Bean. He was retired out of the Ohio Operators Engineers where he worked in Maintenance and a Crane Operator.  He also was a member of Victory Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by two brothers Roger Bean and Sam Bean, also two sisters Peggy Berry and Judy Bean. Surviving are his is wife Janet Watkins Shockley, one son John "Dawn" Shockley of Minford, OH., one brother Leon Bean of Lucasville, OH., three sisters Linda Cooper of Columbus, OH., Helen Smith of Stout, OH., Reba Robinson of McDermott, OH., two grandchildren John Devon Shockley and Dylan Matthew Shockley. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church in West Portsmouth, OH., with Pastor Paul Gibson, officiating. Burial will be in Scioto Burial Park in McDermott OH. Friends may at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 6 P.M. till 8 P.M and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
