Jerry V. Collier, 83, of South Shore, Kentucky passed away with his loving Family by his side on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 in South Shore Nursing and Rehab in South Shore, Kentucky.
Jerry was born on September 14, 1931 at Neon, Kentucky, a son of the late Elijah and Bertha Meade Collier.
Jerry was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in Japan as a member of the American Occupation Force, a retired employee of OSCO Industries.
Jerry also served on the South Shore City Council, former Mayor of South Shore, President of the Stan Spence Little League and was a member of the "Free the U.S. Grant Bridge Committee".
Surviving Jerry are his wife of 64 years, Nadia Moselle Dempsey Collier to whom he married on Nov. 24, 1950, three sons, Jerry (Stella) Collier of London, Ohio, Michael Douglas Collier of Erlanger, Kentucky and Mark (Mary Alice) Collier of MT. Sterling, Kentucky, two grandsons, Mark Allen and Micah Collier, two granddaughters, Teresa Jo Harvey and Megan Collier, three great grandsons, Jacob Jenkins, Lucas Harvey and Dallan Collier, two sisters, Carol Caudill of Portsmouth, Ohio and Mora Carey of Clarksville, Indiana and one brother, Michael Collier of Stout, Ohio.
Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Jo Collier on June 27, 1980, three brothers, Jimmy Collier, Estill Collier and Virgil Collier, one sister, Virginia Hardwick.
Pallbearers will be Micah Collier, Jacob Jenkins, Mark Allen Collier and Jerrys three sons, honorary pallbearers will be, Mike Kennard, Russell Wireman, Kenny Patton and Art Marion.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky with Rev. Norman Potter, officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home from 6 till 8 P.M. on Friday Nov. 28, 2014 and from 9 A.M. till the Funeral hour on Saturday.
