Obituary

James Ellis Glass, known as "Jimmy," age 65, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at South Shore Nursing & Rehab, where he was under hospice care. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on January 6, 1961, to Bill Glass and the late Marlene Timberlake Glass.

Along with his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard (Cotton) and Mable (Collier) Timberlake; Bill Glass; Virginia Fugate May and Jim May; and several Aunts and Uncles.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, two uncles, Perry (Carol) May of Maysville, Kentucky, and Roger (Gloria) Timberlake of Cincinnati, Ohio, his beloved canine companion Susie, and his lifelong best friend Kelly Madacsi of Portsmouth, Ohio. He also had a deep bond with LaDonna Brady of Portsmouth, Ohio, whom he helped raise and loved as his own. Many friends and childhood friends known as "The Rock Creek Gang," along with several other family members and cousins, will sadly miss him.

Jimmy graduated from Lewis County High School in 1979. He served in the United States Navy from 1980 to 1985, specifically aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59), where he spent three years at sea as a Flight Deck Controller. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as hunting and fishing. Above all, he cherished spending time with his loved ones.

Jimmy’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the families and special friends who were always there throughout this fight with cancer: Judy Carver, Randy and Raelynn Dunham, Robert Jones, Bob Lemaster, and Sandy Paxson.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky. Immediately following the service, he will be buried at the Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
