Obituary

James D. "Cotton" Cassidy, 56, of South Shore, Kentucky passed away July 10, 2014 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born Oct. 21, 1957 in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late William Cassidy and Beulah Watkins Cassidy. Was a member of the Laborer Local #83 of Portsmouth, Ohio and Laborer Local #317 of Huntington, West Virginia, Honorably discharged from the National Guard and of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by two sons, James E. Cassidy and Nicholas R. Cassidy, three sisters, Linda Jewell, Nancy Rister and Bessie Rister. Surviving are his wife, Mary Frasure Cassidy to whom he married Nov. 27, 1975, one daughter, Jessica Madden of Greenup, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Blaken Madden, Dakota Madden, Haylee Cassidy, same as grandchildren, Devin Slifer and Wyatt Slifer, two sisters, Roxey Davis and Ellen Rister both of South Shore, Kentucky,two brothers, Mark Cassidy of South Shore, Kentucky, Harold Cassidy of Wurtland, Kentucky and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church, 721 Main Street, South Shore, Kentucky with Elder Dustin Doyle and Elder Timothy Burton, officiating. Burial will follow in Craft Cemetery, Lynn, Kentucky. Friends may call at the South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church from 6 P.M till 9 P.M. Sunday July 13, 2014 and from 9 A.M. until the Funeral Hour at 11 A.M. Monday. Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky are in charge of arrangements.
