Helen F. Horton, 94, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away, Jan. 27, 2018 in Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born in Greenup County, Kentucky Aug. 13, 1923, a daughter of the late John Sheets and Marie Dowdy Sheets. Helen was a Kentucky Colonel and attended Mabert Road Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her husband, John Horton, Jan. 30, 2004, one daughter, Donna Workman Stevens, four brothers, John B. Sheets, Luther Thomlin, Freddie Thomlin and Joe Thomlin, three sisters, Darlene Holbrook, Dorothy Twaddle and Gladys Ater.

Surviving are three sons, John William (Sherry) Horton of Oak Hill, Ohio, Donald (Margie) Horton of Lancaster, Ohio, Ernest (Brenda) Horton of Lucasville, Ohio, three daughters, Irene Leach of Portsmouth, Ohio, Dorothy (Ron) Caudill of Lucasville, Ohio and Sharon (Chuck) Stoughton of Baltimore, Ohio, one sister, Shelby Conn of Warren, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Jan. 31, 2018 at MT. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Bob Sweeney, officiating.
