Harold Eugene Newsome, 74, of South Shore, Ky., went to be with his Lord Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Care in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Greenup County, Ky., July 17, 1939, a son of the late Leslie Newsome and Stella Hall Newsome. Harold was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, Kentucky Colonel and a retired Equipment Operator. He worked hard all of his life, he served his community faithfully by helping people whenever he was needed. He was preceded in death by one bother Leslie Jr (Wanda) Newsome and two sisters Nanna Jewell Newsome and Edith (Elmo) Lyons. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Patty Boggs Newsome of South Shore, Ky., one son James (Melissa) Newsome of South Shore, Ky., two daughters Vicki (Frank) Higginbotham of South Shore, Ky., Michelle (Bob) Berry of Eagle River, Alaska, two sisters Mareda Zempter of Sciotoville, Ohio, Barbara (Pete) Rowe of Franklin, Tenn., and two brothers Glenn (Rachel) Newsome, Donald (Josephine) Newsome both of South Shore, Ky. Also six grandchildren Joshua and Matthew Higginbotham, Brandon and Kyle Berry, Austin Newsome and Tessa (Matthew) Hunt and two great grandchildren Ellie and Easton Hunt. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Allen Chapel Church of Christ in South Shore, Ky., with Jim Montgomery, officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Ky. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, from 6 p.m.until 8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky.
