Donald H. Adkins, 79, of South Shore, KY., passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Portsmouth, OH. February 23, 1946, a son of the late Glen and Lavania Traylor Adkins.

Don was a member of the Church of God Mountain Assembly and a retired operator from Local 181.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Corina Delong.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Tara Haywood Adkins; one son, David Adkins of South Shore, KY; one daughter, Jennifer Adkins of South Shore, KY; three sisters, Janet Holbrook of New Boston, OH., Kay Gilliam of South Shore, KY., and Connie (Whitey) Brown of South Shore, KY; one granddaughter, Davi Lynn Adkins who he call Surgar Babe and was the light of his life; one grandson, Erik Delong and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

The family would like to thank the ICU unit at Southern Ohio Medical Center for the care that Don received.

Graveside services will be at 3 P.M. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY., with Josh Holbrook officiating. Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., is caring for arrangements.
