Donald Cash Brown,58, of Garrison, KY., passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., December 30, 1965 a son of the late Joseph and Helen Spence Brown.
He served our country in the United States Army and retired from the United State Postal Service.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years Cheryl Sparks; three sons, Donald M. (Morgan) Brown of South Webster, OH., Isaac Brown of Garrison, KY., and John Edward Sparks of Portsmouth, OH; one daughter, Tiffany Dawn (Russell) Gilliam of Greenup, KY; four grandchildren, Lucas Gilliam, Ashley Gilliam, Damon Sparks and Alexis Sparks; one sister, Beverly (Roy) Tackett; three brothers, Delbert (Ginger) Brown, Joseph (Angie Wiesenhofer) Brown JR, Jerry (Cindy) Brown and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY. Burial will follow at Jamison Cemetery in Garrison, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
PFC. Donald C. Brown was called to duty January 31, 1991 as part of Operation Desert Storm. He was injured in a trucking accident February 18, on the second day of the ground war as of the Liberation of Kuwait.
The accident occurred during the return trip from the Kuwaiti Border, about 30 miles from the border in Saudi Arabia. He sustained a compound fracture of the right leg and received multiple concussions to the head remaining unconscious for three days after the accident.
He was stabilized at an EVAC hospital in Saudi Arabia before being transported to Germany and was then transported stateside. He is now at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he is expected to remain hospitalized for several weeks.
Donald is a 1985 graduate of Lewis County High School. He had been on inactive reserve for the National Guard. He is the son of Helen Brown of South Shore, KY., and Joe Brown of Quincy, KY.
