Dean C. Smith, 98 of South Shore, Kentucky passed away March 28, 2023 in Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice. He was born in Arlington, Ohio, March 21, 1925, a son of the late Addie F. Smith and Millie Weidman Smith. Dean was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII, he enjoyed Golden Bears in Portsmouth, Ohio and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Preceded in death besides his parents are his wife, Esther Smith, Sept. 1997, granddaughter, Melissa Hieneman, great-great granddaughter, Arabella Marasek, two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are one son, Michael (Brenda) Smith of South Shore, Kentucky, daughters, Linda (Chuck) Hieneman of Greenup, Kentucky and Carol (Bill) Harr of South Shore, Kentucky, brother, Eldon Smith of Hamilton, Ohio, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore with Pastor Buck Musick, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hieneman Cemetery, Greenup, Kentucky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. till the service hour at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Military services will be by the James Dickey American Legion Post 23, Portsmouth, Ohio.
