Ben J. Potter, 80, of South Shore, KY., passed away January 30, 2014 in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Carter County, KY., January 2, 1934 a son of the late Ben Potter and Ella Ruth Boggs Potter. Preceded in death besides his parent's two brothers Frank Potter and Robert Potter and one sister Marie Rowell. Surviving are his wife Dora Anderson Potter of South Shore, Ky., one son George W. Van Vleet of Fort Campbell, KY., four daughters Lisa Van Vleet of Houston, TX., April Starns of Bronston, KY., Paula Nichols of Houston, TX., and Rachel Freitag of Houston, TX. Ben is also survived by two sisters Mona Stephenson of North Carolina and Mary Gash of San Antonio, TX., twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorial Services will be held 6 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2015 at the South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church in South Shore, KY., with Rev. Charles Mallory, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Church Saturday from 5 P.M. till the service hour at 6 P.M.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY.
